Revengers earn share of lead in IBP caging
CEBU, Philippines — The Revengers are on a roll.
After handing the Spartans their first loss, the Revengers sustained their momentum, breathing fire from start to finish to crush the Aniceta Vipers, 60-44, and earn a share of lead in the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Basketball League 2022 Second Conference at the Capitol Parish Gym along Escario Street in Cebu City.
Dean Padoga tossed in 15 markers while Ephraim Bautista added 10 points for the Revengers, who never looked back after cruising to a huge 18-point advantage, 34-16, at halftime on the way to joining the Spartans atop the leaderboard with identical 5-1 win-loss records.
In stark contrast, the Vipers fell to 1-5, just a notch ahead of the listless YLAC (0-6).
In the other game, the Defenders subdued the Bad Boys Dissenters, 60-56.
The Defenders took a slim 31-25 lead at the break, and then wisely neutralized the Dissenters' offense in the wind up to walk away with a four-point victory.
Kalvin “Babyface” Lianza and Van Ligutan unloaded 18 points apiece for the Defenders, who improved to 4-2 in a tie with the Dissenters and the Pañeros.
Edwin Estorgio cashed in 19 points, Kent Francesco Jongoy scored 10, while the Bauzon brothers Richard and Edward tallied 20 markers in between them but their efforts went down the drain for the Dissenters. — EBV
