Poblacion Occidental tops Consolacion Sepak Takraw League
CEBU, Philippines — Poblacion Occidental edged Tayud in three sets, 21-15, 14-21, 15-6 to reign supreme in the boys division of the 11th Mayor Teresa “Nene” P. Alegado Cup Sepak Takraw League in Consolacion, Cebu recently.
Under the guidance of coach Arnold Niedo, the Poblacion Occidental champion team is composed of Jamesle Pitogo, Marlon Gicain, Marlou Semblante, Milkie Ibale, and Milbren Castro.
In the thrilling battle for third, Pulpogan manned by Jerameel Trillo, Ronnel Cuyos, Joshua Mirafuentes, Kier Nathanael Quitay, and Cyril Mondarte escaped past Casili, 20-22, 23-22, 15-7.
In the women’s Invitational, Team Cebu City composed of Adrienne Lastimoso, Mary Maharani Aliño, Mia Tariao Generana, and Chell Quirante swept past the Balamban side in straight sets, 21-19, 21-15, to emerge as champion.
On the other hand, host Consolacion powered by Shekaina Dalag. Hyacinth Pepito, Khaila Intas, Ethel Tabanag, and Maria Parajile outsmarted Liloan, 21-10, 22-24, 21-8, to claim the third place trophy.
The event was organized by the Consolacion Headers Club, Inc. led by its president Wendell Acabal. International referee Joseph Rey Castro served as tournament director assisted by Renante Necesario, Aljhon Villanueva, Dioscoro Andrino, and Herbert Tabasa. — EBV
