CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Landmasters Batch 2003 pummeled Bad Boys Wingz Batch 2007, 69-51, to stay perfect in the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Season 25 last Wednesday night at the Magis Eagles Arena in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.
Daryle Tan churned out 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Ervin Lopena tossed in 19 markers on top of 12 boards and two assists as Batch 2003 firmed up its grip of the solo Division B lead with an unblemished 7-0 record.
Batch 2003 kept Batch 2007 at bay since racing to a spectacular 10-0 start, which they parlayed into an 18-point rout.
Franz Cimafranca dropped a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds but to no avail as Batch 2007 fell to 4-3.
In the other Division B game, Christopher Consunji drained a perfect 6-of-6 from the 3-point land of his 35 points to power the Radar Tires Batch 2004 to a 92-69 thrashing of Marjaztin Glass Trading & Construction Batch 2008.
Not to be outdone, do-it-all forward Franco Te registered a rare triple-double with 23 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists to help Batch 2004 keep their playoff hopes alive with a 3-4 slate.
In Division C, Rey Marcus Fuentes exploded for 32 points spiked with 15 rebounds and two assists to lead Casa Mira 2021 past Batch 2019, 83-81, while Mitch Ivan Almodal and Romeo Angelo Jabalon connived for 44 points, 21 rebounds, and 15 assists as UNAHCO Inc. Batch 2022 finally barged into the win column with a 102-91 triumph over RDAK Powersports Batch 2020.
Batch 2021 moved up to 4-4 while Batch 2022 snap out of its six-game slump. — EBV
