Carmen, Liloan bets rule Divine Mercy duathlon
CEBU, Philippines — AJ Pasana and Kent Quiros of Carmen, Cebu dominated the Divine Mercy Duathlon Short Course Challenge staged on Bonifacio Day in Awihao, Toledo City.
Pasana, a Grade 7, and Quiros, a senior high student, both of Carmen National High School reigned supreme in the junior 13-under and 18-under categories, respectively.
Christian Vince Cogtas of Cebu City wound up second while Jherix Ocno of Talisay City settled for third in the 13-under class.
A top 10 finisher of Cebu Cross 600, Russel Ermac finished behind Quiros while Keith Michael Reducto of Mandaue City bagged the third spot in the 18-under.
Khaiser Randolf Lee of Liloan topped the junior 16-under age group followed by Sumiso Basalan of Naga City and Axel Shane Basaca of Consolacion.
Toledo City’s Jhelro Mamalias stole part of the show after ruling the seniors division. Brijan Manatad of Mandaue placed second while Lenmar Monares of Balamban came out third.
Joining the list of winners were Danielle Recafrente of Pinamungajan, Kaye Alvez of Daanbantayan, Jhayra Cabuena of Talisay and Yona Dela Calsada of Minglanilla.
Noted Cebuano businessman/sportsman Lorenzo “Chao” Sy of the La Fortuna Group and Bro. Julius Poloyapoy graced the awarding ceremony of the race that was also supported by EMF Game Farm. — EBV
