CEBU, Philippines — Ruffa Sorongon added feather to her cap after winning her fifth straight womens title in the Gaisano Country Mall Anniversary Run yesterday at the mall’s parking lot in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City.
Sorongon finished the lung-busting race with the fastest time in the womens class of one hour, 34 minutes and 22 seconds. Kay Cundangay settled for second in 1:38:57 followed by Princess Borneo with 1:41:13, clocking.
In the mens side, Jaymar Magdaleno claimed the title with a time of 1:16:09. Michael Largo placed second with 1:17:07, while Ian Refuela wound up third with a time of 1:19:08.
Just like Sorongon, teen runner Cherry Andrin also retained her womens 15K crown with a time of 1:04:31. He outpaced Grace Tejones (1:08:17) and Wilma Ugay (1:19:13) who placed second and third, respectively.
Florendo Lapis, for his part, was the fastest in the mens 15K action with a time of 51:56. Jerome Casinillo place second with 53:53, while Azlan Pagay landed at third with 55:35.
Jeboy Magbologtong topped the 10K mens with 37:13 clocking followed by Ryan Salinay (38:05) and Peter Canumay (40:00), while the top three finishers in the womens side are Evamie Villarin (43:48), Charisse Encarnacion (48:11.10) and Angel Estillore (48:11.97)
Rainmarch Gonzaga (17:50) and Azia Parrasi (20:56) shone in the 5K action. (FREEMAN)
