PADS braces for Hong Kong dragon boat
CEBU, Philippines — The Philippine Accessible Disability Services (PADS) Adaptive Dragon Boat Racing Team seek to deliver another championship performance in the 2019 CCB (Asia) Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races starting this Friday at the Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong.
“All systems go na g’yud ta and we are confident na makahatag ta og igong kusog ug maayong performance during the race,” said PADS Team Manager John Paul Maunes.
Maunes said the paddlers have undergone into a stringent training under the guidance of coach Ailene Padrones.
PADS, the country’s premier cross-disability dragon boat team, is eyeing to snag its third consecutive championship crown in the race’s international paradragon category.
They are also set to compete in the 400m international open standard boat event, international mixed standard and international women’s race.
“We are expecting to get good results sa race. This is our first race for this season and hopefully makuha gihapon nato ang championship sa international paradragon category,” said Maunes.
The team also wants to gain experience for a bigger battle in the upcoming 14th International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) World Championships happening in August in Pattaya, Thailand.
