Lim, Campo lead winners in Tri-X Games
CEBU, Philippines — Kristianne Lim shone brightly up north of Cebu after winning two titles and a runner-up finish in this year’s Tri-X Games in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island over the weekend.
Lim opened his bid with the overall title in sprint triathlon with the time of one hour, nine minutes and 42 seconds, way ahead of the comebacking hardcore triathletes in Ian Rusiana (1:15:12) and Gerrie Calinawan (1:17:34) who finished second and third, respectively.
Ezrah Beatrice Campo snared the women’s overall crown with a time of 1:29:39 followed by Grace Bascon (1:34:01) and Charlize Bordios (1:37:38).
The age-group winners were Elijah Paul Espigadera (19-under/1:23:04), Chiquito Obeso (20-29/1:18:02), Joboy Tancinco (30-39/1:11:52), Jeffrey Real(40-49/1:25:49) and Ruel Binolirao(50-above/1:34:29) in the men’s division and Vylette Kaye Alvez (19-under/1:42:40), Marie Justiniane (20-24/1:39:04) and Jodette Romaguera (35-above/2:01:35) in the distaff side.
The following morning, Lim came to win the 7.5-kilometer run in 23 minutes and 31 seconds. Aron Joshua Go finished second in 29:56 while Crisanto Carano-o wound up third with a 34:20 clocking.
In the women’s class, Emelyn and Zussette Co posted a 1-2 finish in the morning run with the time of 40:31 and 42:46 as Charmis Ponce took away the third spot in 45:16.
Lim, however, missed a triple victory as he settled for just bronze in the 2-kilometer oceanman or open water swim won by Ian Russiana with a time of 30:31. Japhet Palange landed at second in 31:17 while Lim clocked in 36:17, good for third place.
In the other events, Jorice Mark Zabate and Ruth Villasica topped the duathlon competition, while Joselito Dayday lorded it over the mountainbike action. (FREEMAN)
