CEBU, Philippines — Cebuano go-kart racer William Go of AutoInc Racing saved the country from a medal blackout after grabbing the champion’s trophy in the cadet class during the kick-off leg of the IAME Asian Series at Clarkfield, Pampanga the other day.
Go was the lone Pinoy who raised the country’s banner as the top three spots in the other categories were dominated by foreign karters.
After taking the pole position, the 10-year-old Go never looked back on the way to topping the 16-lap race with the fastest time of 14 minutes and 32.45 seconds.
Malaysia’s Timofey Mikhaylov of DRM Racing came out second with a time of 14:32.90 while Indonesia’s Adidtya Wibowo of Baby Race Asia placed third in 4:32.95.
Earlier this month, Go also made the country proud after lording it over the mini-ROK category of the ROK Cup in Singapore.
Go trains his sights on ruling both the ROK Cup and IAME Series among other international battles he is joining in this year.
