Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Six Cebuano dance couples will try their luck at the Philippine team with hopes of representing the country in the Southeast Asian Games in Clarkfield, Pampanga later this year.

The national tryout will be done during the Dancesport Council of the Philippines, Inc. (DSCPI) First Quarterly Ranking and Competition at Valle Verde Country Club in Pasig City on March 16.

Five of the six couples that are all under the Dancesport-Team Cebu City will be competing in the Latin American discipline.

They are Wilbert Aunzo and Pearl Marie Cañeda, Anselmo Estillore and Mae Pabuaya, John Paul Mocorro and Mary Joy Dumusmog, Andrew Ysla and Noelyn Pedrano, Jake Corro and K Jocson, and Simon Asuque and Jasmine Labra and Gylle.

Niño Diluvio and Yeddah Marie Castañares, on the other hand, will showcase their wares in the modern standard action.

During the introduction of dancesport in the 2005 SEA Games at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino,  the Cebuanos made history after Michael Mendoza and Belinda Adora grabbed the gold and Dearlie Gerodias and John Erolle Melencio settled for silver in the Latin action.
