Batiancila, Tan shine in 4th Cebu Northwest ultramarathon
CEBU, Philippines — Multi-titled ultramathoner Edil Batiancila and Ronila Tan emerged as the fastest in their respective divisions of the 4th Cebu Northwest 100 miles Ultramarathon that started from Daanbantayan Municipal Hall and ended at the Plaza Independencia, Cebu City.
Batiancila of the Spectrum Runners Club finished the grueling race in 22 hours, 21 minutes and 55 seconds to beat 39 other participants and top the men's division.
Veteran Desederio "Sano" Engbino settled at second place with 22:22:10 clocking followed by Wendell Kwan with a time of 24:44:15.
Tan, for her part, became the first female to cross the finish line with a time of 30:39:47. She is trailed by Margie Pailaga (32:25:26) and Jessamine Aninipoc (32:44:21) in second and third place, respectively.
Race director Edwin Colina of Hardcore Events said out of 40 runners, 29 of which successfully crossed the finish line within the 34-hours cut off time.
Among those who conquered the grueling race were Crystian Cadiz (25:52:48), Ronald Entrolezo (26:39:11), Rey Quijano (31:15:49), Ricssie Germino (31:31:20), Phillip Migallos (31:44:12), Julius Entrampas (31:51:56), Wit Excelsior Pana (32:26:50), Shur Dolina (32:27:08), Ronnie Tragantin (32:36:32), Kenny Ancajas (32:39:45), Ranel Torreon (32:41:40), Oliver Abuyen (32:46:23), Laico Tolentino (32:53:40), Reynaldo Corro (32:59:11), Jobert Babanto (33:04:21), Adrian Sabanpan (33:07:51), Angelie Durano (33:33:07), Alvin Cesar (33:09:08), Eusebio Cabidog (33:09:12), Abby Tayaban (33:16:41), Jerrson Botea (33:23:09), Angelito Lupango (33:23:11) and Adelisa Montesclaros (33:45:52).
