CEBU, Philippines — Team Suzuki FC is back to defend its title in the men's open division as the 8th Sinulog Football Festival gets underway at 8 am today at the Cebu City Sports Center.
Suzuki FC's main man Frederick “Ktec” Alazas downplays their chances as unlike last year wherein they paraded varsity players from the University of San Carlos (USC), they only have a merry-mix of young and professional Cebuano booters this time.
Alazas promised though ttat they would give their best shot as they aim for back-to-back championships.
Expected to give them a run for their money are Leylam FC, Erco, Rising Sun and USC, which is fielding in two teams.
The men’s open has 24 entries, the biggest among the 15 categories.
The women's open, however, drew only five entries led by defending champion Tabor Hills.
All in all, a total of 143 teams apread in different categories will be seeing action in the annual tournament spearheaded by the Cebu Football Association (CFA).
