Megabond, Dorma lock top two spots

CEBU, Philippines – Team Dorma thrashed CMI, 79-55, to clinch the No.2 spot going into the playoffs of the Architects+Engineers Basketball Association's 1st Corporate Cup over the weekend at the University of San Carlos-Main gym.

Ed Macasling sparkled with 36 points laced with five assists, four rebounds and two steals for Dorma, which kept CMI at bay after taking a huge 34-18 lead at halftime.

Dorma sustained its momentum the rest of the way to come up with a 24-point blowout.

Dorma, thus, will enjoy twice-to-beat advantage against its victim in the crossover semifinals, in the same way with the top-seeded Megabond against the fourth-ranked Fenestram. The winners will then clash for the championship in a best-of-three affair.

In a non-bearing match, Phoenix slammed Davies Paints, 89-60, for its only win in 10 games.

Megabond topped the double round elimination with a 9-1 win-loss record followed by Dorma (7-3), CMI (6-4), Fenestram (5-5), and Davies Paints (2-8).—EBV (FREEMAN)
