CEBU, Philippines - Bohol’s Paul Jumamil of Alaska TriAspire lived up to his monicker as ‘Superman’ after he reigned supreme in the men’s class as Louie Villacin proved to be too much for other female participants in the San Remigio 8080 Triathlon yesterday in San Remigio north of Cebu.
After an impressive performance in the recent Safeguard for Men 5i50 in Panglao,Bohol, Jumamil was simply unstoppable as he finished a longer race in three hours, 10 minutes and two seconds.
Trailing is Team Repro-Optima's Jorry Ycong who got the second place in 3:17:46, while Jumamil’s teammate in Kristiane Lim settled for third in 3:20:36. Xterra pro Joseph Miller (3:26:34) landed in fourth as Welmar Saavedra (3:37:54).
In the distaff side, WS Tri team’s Villacin was the first female to reach the finish line in 4:22:52, followed by Maria Norisa Goc-ong with 4:24:40 and Jun Marq Ocana in 4:35:04 for the second and third place, respectively.
In the age-group action, Jumamil won the men's 20-24 class while Ycong ruled the 25-29 as Jan Sinda dominated the 30-34 division. Milller ruled the 35-39, Romulo Rossell topped the 40-44 and Peter Gonzalez in the 45-49 division.
Cianyl Jamae Gonzalez of Parklane Tri team snared the 25-29 women’s title, Villacin claimed the 30-34, while Ocana was the fastest in the 35-39 as Goc-ong in the 40-44 class.
In the 4040, Jeffrey Codino of Omega Pro lead the charge in the overall standing with 1:47:48 clocking followed by Donray Noval of Tri Liloan with 1:48:22 and Paul Maquiling at third spot with 1:49:43.
In the distaff side, Trione's Olive Rose Salve finished first with 2:10:59 as Sandra Gonzales of PLDT trailed with 2:12:13 and En Torres at third with 2:19:00 clocking.
Codino also won the 30-39 class while Noval lorded it over the 20-29 as Alton Lorenzo Amor ruled the 15-19 and Warren Vergara in the 40-49 class.
Nyza Archival topped the 15-19, Salve in the 20-29, Gonzalez in the 30-39 and Odiza Abellana in the 40-49 class.
The full distance relay saw Tri Liloan's team 1 and 2 with a 1-2 finish as PLV Tri team 1 came out third while the top three in the half distance class were Honda Motorworld 2, Team Univille and Hybrid respectively. — (FREEMAN)
