USPF, USC win in CYBL D-League

CEBU, Philippines - The University of Southern Philippines Foundation and University of San Carlos led Day 2 winners of the CYBL D-League 2015 at the SHS-Ateneo de Cebu Mango Avenue Campus Gym. USPF scraped past the SHS-Ateneo MLO team, 58-52, in an Under 18 Division 1 game, while USC earned payback with a 45-34 win over UV in an Under 12 Division 1 match-up.

 It was another 11-game joust that also saw games played in the Under 10 and Under 15 age groups. In the youngest age group, USC South defeated VEPS, 32-14. Monterey School of Talisay won over SHS-Ateneo 2, 47-19.

In Under 12 Division 2 games, Monterey nipped USC South, 41-38. SCSIT outscored SHS-Ateneo 2, 39-26. In the Under 15 Division 2, SHS-Ateneo 2 won over Mandaue Ballclub, 50-28. USC South stopped SACS, 40-25.

In the other Under 18 Division 1 game, USC North won over the SHS-Ateneo MLO team, 54-50. In Under 18 Division 2 games, SCSIT defeated the SHS-Ateneo Passerelle team, 60-51. The SHS-Ateneo Passerelle squad bounced back to win over MOCA, 59-26.

 The CYBL D-League is the fourth major tournament of the Cebu Youth Basketball League for 2015. The tournament was established to provide a venue for exposure for the Cebu youth basketball sector.

The age groups are Under 10, 12, 15 and 18. The Under 12, 15 and 18 age groups are split into two divisions. Division 1 is for the competitive teams while Division 2 is for the developmental squads.

A total of 75 teams have signed up for the tournament. Games resume tomorrow at the SHS-Ateneo de Cebu Mango Camps Gym and on Sunday at the UV Gym.—(FREEMAN)
