SWU, USJ-R belles march to semis
CEBU, Philippines - Southwestern University and University of San Jose-Recoletos secondary girls team virtually advanced to the semifinal round in the volleyball event of the 2015 Cebu Schools Athletic Federation tournament at the Aznar Coliseum yesterday.
The young female Cobras got their fifth win in six games at the expense of the University of Cebu, 25-16, 25-6. They are behind the defending champion USJR with a perfect 5-0 record.
In the women’s tertiary action, University of San Carlos pulled off a fourth-set win against the University of Southern Philippines Foundation, 23-25,25-6,25-20,25-21.
USC is now at third spot behind USJ-R with their 2-2 win-loss card while USPF slides further down with 1-2 record.
In the men's division, USJ-R spiking Jaguars collected their third straight victory at the expense of UC, 25-20, 25-17, 25-16.
In the CESAFI football event, USC trounced UC, 3-0. Miguel Kwan went unstoppable contributing two goals through the 27th and 50th minute of the game as Yves Caballero sealed USC's win with a goal on the 80th.— (FREEMAN)
