Don Bosco, SHS-Ateneo in grudge rematch for CESAFI secondary football title

CEBU, Philippines – Defending champion Don Bosco Technology Center and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu bested separate rivals to set up a grudge rematch of sort for the coveted championship in the secondary football event of the 2015 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) season yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Joseph Rena bombarded a rare five goals as the Bosconians kept their back-to-back title bid alive with a 6-1 thrashing of the University of San Carlos.

Rena knocked in his first two goals at the eight and 42nd. After USC scored its first and only goal of the match at the 58th, Rena unloaded three more more goals at the 51st, 63rd and 68th before Justin Genson sealed the deal for Don Bosco.

SHS-AdC was similarly impressive in its 5-0 rout of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation.

Joshua Shields broke the ice with just two minutes gone by in the game. Paul Buena scored 33 minutes later to give SHS-Ateneo a 2-0 edge at halftime.

Jaime Aquino then made his presence felt with a goal at the 47th, while Leo Maquiling and Raphael Villahermosa put the finishing touches on SHS-Ateneo's masterful win goals at the 52nd and 79th, respectively.

Don Bosco and SHS-Ateneo are set to slug it out for the crown this Wednesday. (FREEMAN)
