CEBU, Philippines – Cebuano cyclist Jun Duron missed a podium finish in the penultimate leg of the 2015 ASEAN Mountainbike Cup, but got the surprise of himself after being named as the overall leader in the masters division the other night at the Damai Eco Ranch in Lohan, Ranau, Malaysia.
Duron settled for only sixth place in the third leg won by a Thai rider.
Duron suffered mishaps along the mud-harrassed course, yet he still barged into the Top 10. He was actually the last rider of the 17 starters who finished the whole course without getting cut.
Inspite of that, Duron still got hold of the driver's seat in his class after accumulating 28 points. He got most of his points from the first two legs staged in Danao City and in Indonesia.
The Talisay City-native Duron couldn't relax though as he is just two points ahead of Indonesian Kusnadi Adi, the third placer in the Malaysia leg.
With this, Duron is expected to give his all-out best in the fourth and final leg of this year's ASEAN MTB Cup set this November in Timor Leste. (FREEMAN)
