CEBU, Philippines – Southwestern University secondary girls remain unbeaten after three games in this years's Cebu Schools Athletic Federation, Inc. volleyball event at the University of San Jose-Recoletos Basak Campus gym.
SWU notched their third victory at the expense of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, 25-15, 25-15.
The University of Southern Philippines, for their part, bounced back after losing their first game to defending champion University of San Carlos, by scoring a lopsided 25-3, 25-7 win against Cebu Eastern College.
In the boys division, University of Southern Philippines Foundation collected their second win in three outings after defeating Don Bosco Technology Center, 25-12, 25-17.
Also, the defending champion USC escaped with a thrilling, 25-22, 27-25 win, over University of San Jose-Recoletos on their final assignment in the elimination round.
Meanwhile in CESAFI football, DBTC and USJR claimed top position in their respective divisions after posting two straight victories at the Cebu City Sports Center.
DBTC, the reigning secondary division champion, dumped the University of San Carlos,9-0, for its second win, while SHS-AdC started its bid with a 3-0 triumph over USPF.
In the tertiary division, after outsmarting USC, 2-1, USJ-R logged its second win at the expense of USPF, 1-0.
In karatedo event also held at the USJ-R Basak campus, the University of Cebu and USJ-R ruled their separated divisions.
UC dominated the secondary division with 10 golds, seven silvers and a bronze, while USJ-R reigned supreme in the tertiary level with 6-4-1 gold-silver-bronze medal finish. (FREEMAN)
