CEBU, Philippines – The Talisay City-based karatekas under Team Advocacy for the Strengthening of Karatedo (ASK) hauled 18 golds, four silvers and five bronzes in this year’s Regional Invitational Karatedo Championships at the J Center Mall in Mandaue City.
Marjorie Villareal led the charge for ASK with three golds. Nino Kime Avila, Arviel Vender and Precious Belicario all got a double gold from their respective classes, while RF Metante and Denzil Amora grabbed a gold and a silver.
Jon Ann Inigo, Archien Vender, Gwen Ponteros and Cindy Sanchez went away with one gold and one bronze apiece.
The likes of Joshua Famador, Daniel Fernandez and Dj Mae Dente also contributed one gold each.
Four other ASK bets in Renier Cruz and Denice Metante added glitter to the team with a silver each, while Warlito Ponteros and June Raganas had one bronze each.
Larry Avila, a former bmx rider and longtime karatedo coach under ASK, said the event has attracted close to 20 clubs from all over Visayas. Their team garnered the most medals, but no overall champion was declared due to time constraints. (FREEMAN)
