Faber vs Edgar headlines UFC Manila card

CEBU, Philippines - Former UFC lightweight champion and currently No.1 ranked featherweight Frankie ‘The Answer’ Edgar will face ex-WEC champ Urijah ‘California Kid’ Edgar in the main event of Ultimate Fighting Championship’s first ever fight card in the Philippines set on May 16 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

This a chance for Filipino MMA fans to witness live octagon action in the world's largest mixed martial arts organization.

 Edgar, who is on a three-fight winning streak is looking for a win against Faber to solidify his chance of getting another crack at the UFC featherweight belt currently held by Brazilian star Jose Aldo. He recently beat top contender Cub Swanson via neak crank submission last November in Austin, Texas.

For his part, Faber who did numerous open workouts and media appearances last year in the Philippines, will be making his return to featherweight division after two impressive victories over Alex Caceres and Francisco Rivera.

Meanwhile, UFC.com also announced five more matchups for the Manila event including Tae Hyun Bang versus Jon Tuck, Zhang Lipen versus Kajan Johnson, Yao Zhikui versus Nolan Ticman, Li Jingliang versus Roger Zapata and Philippine’s own Roldan Sangcha-an versus Jon Delos Reyes. (FREEMAN)
