CEBU, Philippines - Female pawnpushers will have a chance not only to showcase their wares but also compete against each other as the 1st Rose Pharmacy Women's Chess Tournament kicks off today at the School of Chess located at the second floor of Central Books along P. del Rosario Street, Cebu City.
The two-day event offers close to P20,000 in cash prize to the top performers.
The champion will pocket P8,000, while the second and third placers will take home P4,000 and P2,000, respectively. The fourth will receive P1,000, while the fifth to 12th will get P500 each.
Registration fee is pegged at P150 for members, and P200 for non-members (20-below) and P250 for non-members (20-above). Free snacks and drinks will be served to the participants.
The organizers of this 7-round Swiss system tournament led by IM Kim Steven Yap will still be accepting entries before the competition starts at 1 p.m.
