Gumban keeps unbeaten record
CEBU, Philippines – ALA Boxing Gym stalwart Melvin ‘Top Gun’ Gumban (18-0,9KOs) kept his unbeaten record intact with a spectacular first round knockout victory over Roger Echavez (7-13, 4KOs) in the main event of ALA Promotions and Cobra Energy Drink ‘Tunay na Lakas Boxing’ the other night at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center (Nompac) in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
Gumban, who hails from Escalante City in Negros Occidental, proved too much for his foe as he dominated the fight in terms of speed and power en route to an easy first round win against the Zamboanga del Sur boxer.
Meanwhile, unlike Gumban, another ALA prospect Juren ‘Turbo’ Labordo (13-2, 9KOs) was tested against Ryan Tampus (11-12, 8KOs) in which he won via unanimous decision.
In the other results, Rafael Sueno triumphed over Macmac Baribar by first round KO, Archie Moyani stopped Ronald Cajes, James Talaman won over Sonny Basanez via unanimous decision, Ricardo Sueno kayoed Kavin Parrenas and Jeffrey Concerman dispatched Holly Quiñones. (FREEMAN)
