CEBU, Philippines – Defending champion Don Bosco Technology Center and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu defeated separate foes in contrasting fashion to arrange a title duel in the secondary division of the 14th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc.  football tournament yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

DBTC and SHS-AdC will battle for the title at 1 p.m today.

The Bosconians scored a 12-0 whitewash of University of San Carlos in their semis encounter, while SHS-AdC eked out a 5-3 victory over the University of Southern Philippines Foundation.

Seeing how disorganized USC have been in the early goings of the game, the young kicking Grey Wolves came out even fiercer on the second half with Enrich Rafael Orale on the 40th, John Clyde Vituala on the 42nd while Christian Ouano delivered two goals through the 52nd and 54th mark. Jose Salazar goal in the 71st minute sealed the deal for DBTC.

SHS-AdC, for its part, had a tough time in disposing the University of Southern Philippines Foundation, 5-3 via shootout.

USPF and SHS-AdC ended the regulation game at 1-all paving the way for a 20-minute extension.

USPF logged the first goal during the regulation period through Ivan Palmero in the 22nd minute, while SHS-AdC’s Kintaro manage to tie the game at 1-all on the 71st minute.

Both teams were not able to score on the extension that forces the gamer into shootout that went in favor of SHS-AdC.

On the other hand, the University of San Carlos grabs the first final ticket in the collegiate division with a 1-0 triumph against early favorite University of Cebu.

Anthony Arizabal became USC’s hero of the day after delivering a long shot on the 20th minute. USC will now wait for the winner of the other semifinal match between University of San Jose Recoletos and University of Southern Philippines Foundation. (FREEMAN)
