5 Singwangcha fighters topbill ‘Pinaksitay sa Talisay’ boxfest

CEBU, Philippines – Five battle-tested fighters under the stewardship of Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha will headline the "Pinaksitay sa Talisay", another action-packed card backstopped by Naris/Wakee Promotions set this Saturday night at the Talisay City Sports Complex. Showtime promptly starts at 7p.m.

In the main attraction, Aguelo A. Singwangcha of Maasin City will take on Bonnie Makiling of Bukidnon in a 12-round rumble for the Asian Boxing Federation super featherweight championship.

The 26-year-old Aguelo, who sports a 21-10-2 record spiked with 13KOs, hopes to get back on the winning track after losing by unanimous decision to Mexican Sergio Thompson last August 8 in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

That would not be an easy task though as Makiling heads into the match in high spirits, having won by third round knockout against Rege Pahayag during his previous bout last July 27 at the Agoho Tiger Boxing Club in Mambajao, Camiguin.

Four of Aguelo's stablemates will also flex their punching muscles in the slambang show co-presented by Cebuano topnotch promoter Rex "Wakee" Salud and the Talisay City Sports Commission.

Canoy J. Singwangcha of General Santos City will slug it out with Ryan Bahala of Davao City, Boyose A. Singwangcha of Cebu City will mix it up with Jaime Barcelona of Bukidnon, Valero G. Singwangcha of Mandaue will tackle Arlon Batingal of Compostela Valley, while Tabanao J. Singwangcha of Panabo City will square off against Jhoas Aparecio of Bukidnon.

"I want to help these boxers fulfill their dreams of becoming champions someday. Though I chart their respective careers, I don't want to lose their identity that is why I am retaining their family names to go along with the name of my stable," said Naris Singwangcha, who had been actively involved in local boxing promotions for three years now. "These boxers will train regularly and they have nothing to worry about because aside from receiving allowances, they are assured of a fight within two months under my watch."

Aside from three curtain-raisers, the other feature to watch out for in the upcoming Talisay fightcard is the featherweight duel between Recky Dulay of Yolly Alfante Stable and Anthony Sabalde of Cebu. — EBV) (FREEMAN)
