Mier defends title in Toledo
CEBU, Philippines - Former National track cycling team member-turned mountainbike rider John Mier successfully defend his title in the 4th TORCC Luray II Mountainbike Cross-country Challenge in Toledo City.
After his stint in the recent ASEAN Mountainbike Cup in Malaysia, Mier once again showed his ware as he defends his men’s open title over Roy Carbonera.Kit Cabonita wound up third.
Mier had an easy going in dealing with the tricky terrains of Luray for eight laps at 1.8-kilometers per lap of the Toledo On-Road Cycling Club-organized event.
Mitchel Pilapil, for his part, won the veteran's class over Toledo's well-loved Nilo Barbalose as Edwin Borinaga came out third.
Ryhke Armas won the combined junior-senior class over May-may Hernando as Melvin Codoy landed third.
Jun Duron got the master's class title over Dadong Carcueva and Wenny Montoya for second and third place, respectively.
Ike Cabarles also grabbed part of the limelight by winning the executive class' top spot, followed by Junar Pamplona and Gian Batac.
The battle among the beginners saw Rio Hernando as the fastest over Jonathan Bacus and Aldwin Pilapil.
The all-Toledo open was just as exciting as the rest with Nikko Otadoy outpacing Gregorio Gadiano while Limbert Tirol landed third. (FREEMAN)
