Tabal, Duenas shine in Surigao Marathon

CEBU, Philippines- The power tandem of Mary Joy Tabal and John Philip Duenas topped their respective divisions in the 21K race of the 1st Surigao Marathon in Surigao City.

After dominating the Bohol International Marathon, Tabal and Duenas managed to take another convincing victory this time in Surigao City.

Tabal bagged the women’s crown with the time of 1 hour, 26 minutes and 59 seconds.

Michelle Aclo placed second with 1:49:12 clocking, while Sarah Love Palancae occupied the third place with the time of 2:05:30.

In the men’s side, Duenas registered the fastest time of 1 hour, 17 minutes and 15 seconds beating Kenyan runner Abraham Missos who wound up second in 1:17:19. Jun Mosca was a distant third in 1:22:39.

But with Missos defeat to Duenas, the Kenyan strut their ware in the 42K class as they swept the top three spot in the men’s 42K division. Isaac Simat on topped the men’s class with 2:39:00, followed by Douglas Mwiti and Eluid Kering in the second and third place with 2:45:00 and 2:58:00, respectively.
