CEBU, Philippines - Mary Joy Tabal once again flashed her running might with authority to rule the women's 16K category of the 2014 Builder’s Run at the Parkmall grounds yesterday.
Tabal completed the race only in 1 hour, 13 minutes and 17 seconds. The Paris and Beijing Marathon finisher was way ahead of Ruffa Sorongon (1:13:17) and Mereeis Ramirez (1:15:11), who placed second and third, respectively.
In the men’s side, Kenyan Isaac Simat registered the best time of 54:17, followed by countrymen Douglas Mwiti (55:27) and Abraham Missos (56:40).
It was Desederio Ingbino, who placed first in the 16K professional category with a time of 1:04:44, beating Jeffrey Codino (1:07:27) and John Balaga (1:10:53).
Balaga Anita (1:33:00), Lalaine Sacris (1:46:04) and Iris Gonzales (1:47:46) were the top three finishers in the female side.
Veteran Cebuano Alvirg Busa lorded it over in the 16K employee’s class with a 1:01:18 clocking, while Anne Diano won the women’s side with a time of 1:44:48.
Another Kenyan James Mbei (26:28) and teen runner Jhean Andrin (35:05) topped the 8K open, while John Manos (16:42) and Cherry Andrin (23:35) dominated the 5K class. (FREEMAN)
