Paris-bound Tabal easily wins Summer Run
CEBU, Philippines - Mary Joy Tabal capped her training for a major international race with a victory in the women's 10K of the 2014 Summer Run at Paseo Arcenas in Banawa yesterday.
Tabal, who is set to represent the country in the prestigious Paris Marathon on April 6 as her incentive for topping the National Milo Marathon in record-setting fashion last year, was just going easy, crossing the finish line in 38 minutes. She was way ahead of the Andrin sisters Lovely and Cherry, who won second and third with a time of 44:28 and 44:29, respectively.
As usual, the Kenyans scored a clean sweep in the men's 10K. Isaac Simat clocked in the best time of 33 minutes followed by Abraham Missos (33:13) and Douglas Mwiti (33:35).
Jhean Andrin topped the women's 5K with a 20:55 clocking. Sarah Lee Quizon placed second in 21:15, while Lynle Cardenas took the third spot in 21:28.
