CEBU, Philippines - The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) booters snared the girls’ under-18 division title of the 16th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday with a dominating 5-2 win against San Roque Football Club at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Brgy. Subangdaku,Mandaue City.
San Roque took command in the earlier part, scoring the first goal courtesy of Mary Borel in the 8th minute, but Pia Du countered by scoring on the 21st minute to even the game for SHS-AdC.
With momentum shifting on their side, SHS-AdC connected two more goals in the first half with Pia Acusar scoring on the 27th and Anne Ugarte on the 32nd for a 3-1 lead at the half.
Andrea Kababahay added a goal for SHS-AdC on the 41st before allowing Itsuka Bacatan to score the second another goal for San Roque. Du sealed SHS-AdC’s win with their final on the 61st minute.
Meanwhile, Cebu International School outsmarted St.Theresa’s College, 5-4 via penalty shootout to bag the third place trophy of the girl’s under-18 class. – (FREEMAN)
