CEBU, Philippines - Mobile and Support both scored lopsided wins to open the inaugural Telstra Basketball League last weekend at the City Sports Club Cebu gym.
Palmos led Mobile with 20 points as they whacked the hapless Consumer Billing A squad, 62-31.
Colmenares chipped in 14 points for the winning cause.
Consumer A only had Torralba hitting double digits with 10 points. The team, however, got one of the most coveted prizes on opening day as its muse Stephanie Ralota was picked as the fairest from among the four teams.
The opening day was graced by Telstra Powered by Teletech client manager Hannah Do, and operations managers Mae Concepcion, Don Geraldizo, and Ken Esloyo.
In the second game, Support tripped Consumer Billing B, 66-51.
Laurel led Support with 18 points and was backed by Manuel and Ochia with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Santillana had 16 points to lead Consumer Billing B, but did not get enough support from his teammates and no one else made double digits.
A total of four teams playing in a double round robin format are seeing action in the tournament.
