CEBU, Philippines - The University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) reigned as they garnered the most number of golds with two silver medals in the recently concluded Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) dancesport competition at the dancesport studio of the Cebu City Sports Center.
The USPF tandem of Rinzon Elarcosa and Rochelle Diola won the modern standard of the tertiary division after performing waltz, tango, foxtrot and quickstep.
Elarcosa and Diola outsmarted University of Cebu’s Japhet and Jane Camille Aguello who settled for the silver medal.
In the tertiary Latin discipline which featured samba, cha-cha-cha, rumba and jive, Cebu Institute of Technology Univerity entry Jeffrey Benarao and Mary Mae Canillo shine as they beat USPF's Lark Jabonero and Venus Mae Balde for the gold, while UC's Samson Orlanes and Mary Desiree Seraga settled for bronze.
USPF's secondary bets, Andrew Ysla and Christine Camacho were unopposed in the Latin division.
Christine Camacho and James Bryan Camacho snared the silver medal in the modern standard dominated by University of San Carlos’ Zijane Troy and Zijiana Tracy Villacorta.
Another USC tandem of Carl Nathanyl Papellero and Jasmine Kate Labra were also unopposed in the elementary division, while Apolonio Abines and Redine Cabigon got the bronze in the standard class.
The top performers for the tertiary and secondary division will represent the Region VII in the Private Schools Athletic Association's National Games since the CESAFI event was combined with the PRISAA regional games. —(FREEMAN)
