PRISAA Reg'l Meet unfurls today

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - After the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association  (CVIRAA) games, it's time for the collegiate athletes to showcase their wares as the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Regional Meet kicks off this morning at the University of San Carlos main gym.

But unlike the CVIRAA, the PRISAA is only a three-cornered fight between Cebu, Bohol and Oriental Negros.

Cebu is represented by the top athletes from the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI).

Most of the events will be played at the Cebu City Sports Center including athletics, badminton, boxing, dance sports, swimming and taekwondo.

Basketball, on the other hand, will be played at the USC Gym along with chess.

Football will be at Don Bosco Technology Center, while lawn tennis will be at Baseline Sports and Recreation Center.

Sepak takraw, karatedo and table tennis will be staged at the University of Cebu (UC)-Main Campus, while both indoor and beach volleyball will take place at Southwestern University's Aznar Coliseum.

Softball and baseball will no longer be played in the regional meet since only Bohol has an entry.

The top performers of the two-day tilt will represent Central Visayas to the PRISAA National Finals set on April 6 -12 in Tangub City where the region is gunning for an unprecedented fourth straight championship. (FREEMAN)
