CEBU, Philippines - The final leg for the 2013 Kartzone Superkart Series will take place this Sunday at the Kartzone racetrack in Brgy. Kasambagan, this city.
The organizers decided to move the seventh leg from its original schedule of December last year to sympathize to the victims of super typhoon ‘Yolanda’.
Jette Calderon and Joseph Rojo are the two riders who leading the contender for the “Karter of the Year†award. Calderon leads the charge with 283 points while Rojo trails with his 261 points. Vince Rojo is currently at third place with 160 points.
Though he has a comfortable lead, Calderon has no plans of slowing down against a hard working rival in Rojo.
It had been a Calderon-Joseph Rojo rivalry in 2013 with Calderon ruling the first three legs and Joseph Rojo dominating the fourth to sixth leg.
Aside from the KOTY award, Calderon with the two riders are also gunning for the overall supremacy in the KT expert class. Calderon is also leading in the KT expert with 290 points.
The other Rojo, Vince, virtually bagged the KT novice class with 265 points while closest pursuer Earl Taborada trailing with 191 points.
Panpan Reroma leads the KT masters with 280 points, followed by Rej Aleman with 242 points.
Frederick Cortes leads the Honda expert division with 262 points while Lord Seno trails with his 210 points after six legs.
On the other hand, Kartzone's very own, Kym Limgenco virtually wins the Honda novice class with 284 points, way up ahead of Norris See with 177 points.
The mini ROK overall title is a toss-up between Jaron Messina and Liam Sacal. Messina is currently leading with 259 points as Sacal has 225 points. Seven Aleman leads with 269 points for the SQ cadet, while Raprap Gutierrez has 232 points. (FREEMAN)
