Julaton outmuscles Mexican foe

CEBU, Philippines - Former WBO/IBA super bantamweight champion Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton survived a cut above her right eyebrow to score a majority decision win against Mexican Perla Hernandez the other night in Yucatan, Mexico.

In a report from fightnews.com, Julaton got the nod of the judges as she outpointed and outgunned her Latina foe winning 97-93, 98-94, while the other judge gave a 95-all score.

The 31-year-old Julaton was bloodied after sixth round due to an accidental headbutt, but she still connected with head and body shots to pile up points.

Julaton sported a bloodied right eyebrow at the end of the 10-round match following an accidental headbutt she suffered in round six.

The win improved to 12-4 win-loss record, spiked with two stoppages, while Hernandez fell to 10-7-3 (2 KOs).

Julaton is now motivated to bounce back and try to get another shot at the world title after suffering a heart-breaking unanimous decision loss at the hands Mexican-American Celina “The Professional” Salazar last August at the Plaza de Toros in Cancun, Mexico.  (FREEMAN)
