CEBU, Philippines - Close to P10,000 in cash prize is available to the winners of the B.C. Hortelano Open Chess Tournament slated on November 7-8 at the Deep Blue Chess Club located at the second level of SM City-Cebu.
The 7-round Swiss system competition is bankrolled by Benjamin C. Hortelano, a Certified Public Accountant who is keen on promoting this famous European boardgame in Cebu.
The champion will go home P3,000 richer, while the second and third will pocket P2,000 and P1,000, respectively. The fourth and fifth will receive P800 and P600. The sixth to 10th will get P400 each, the 11th to 16th will claim P300 apiece, while those who will make it to the top 20 list are entitled to a consolation prize of P200.
