UV Intramurals kicks off this a.m.

CEBU, Philippines - The University of the Visayas UV kicks off its 2013 Intramurals today at the UV quadrangle.

Carrying the theme “Visayanians: Caring and Protecting the Environment through Sports, Academic and Literary Competitions,  the annual University event will be started by a holy mass that will be celebrated at 7am at the school’s Teresita Square.

This will be followed by the parade of competing delegations from the different college departments.

Expected to grace the affair is Congressman Gerald Anthony ‘Samsam’ V. Gullas Jr., who will deliver an inspirational message. Gullas who is also UV’s Assistant Vice President for Finance will formally declare the four-day tournament open.

The school's Filipiniana Dance Troupe under the behest of Angelo Manapsal will render a production number, the Drum and Bugle of the Visayanians under the baton of Angelo Vega will perform a must-see fancy drill.

The other highlight of the kick-off salvo is the selection of the 2013 Mr.and Ms. Intramurals.

Ball games will immediately commence in the afternoon along with the News Writing and Photo contest, Pop Dance competition, UV Green Revolution 2013 and a Break through concert in the University quadrangle.

Among the sporting disciplines that will be featured in the four-day athletic meet are basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, karatedo, scrabble, chess and Pinoy games. (BANAT NEWS)
