Goldberry Suites now 4-0 in SHAABAA

CEBU, Philippines - The Goldberry Suites zoomed ahead in the standings after they destroyed the San Remigio Aguilas, 80-40, in yet another strong performance in the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Mivesa Cup last Thursday evening at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.

Goldberry showed that they had plenty of weapons in their arsenal as all 14 players that were fielded in scored at least two points. Joseph Lo led the way with 13 points, three rebounds and two assists while Stanley Ong and Chad Canares each had 10 points apiece that helped propel Goldberry to their fourth win in as many outings.

Ryan Lauro paced the Aguilas with 21 markers.

 In other games, Gaisano Capital beat the A-Team, 58-50, for their third win in four games. Anton Solon and Brian Downey was the winners’ one-two punch on that evening with 11 points each that spoiled the 28-point explosion of the A-Team’s Dandan Tecson.

Finally, Milco evened its record at 2-2 after edging out Alberto’s Pizza, 65-62. The game was a close one and was tied for the last time at 62-all after a make by Alberto’s Jonathan Cimafranca. But Milco was more than up to the challenge and claimed the exciting win, thanks to the last three points of Theogene Lim, who finished with 22 markers.

Roderick Mangubat fired in a game-high 24 points for the victors. Cecilio Gillamac added 15 more for Milco.

Alberto’s got 17 from Christian Pepito. Thursday’s losing teams all remained winless in four games this season. (PR) (FREEMAN)
