CEBU, Philippines - Yaw-Yan ArDigma Martial Arts Federation, Inc. will bring Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) in Cebu to a new level as it strikes a deal with SkyCable, making the country's leading cable network as its official media partner for the highly-anticipated ‘Ground and Pound 7: Resolution’ fightcard on August 31 at the Cebu Coliseum.
The partnership was sealed through a contract signing betwen Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu CEO/Founder Master Benigno “Ekin†R. Caniga, Jr. and SkyCable Airtime Executive Jeff Taleon last Tuesday night at the Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu headquarters.
Being the official media sponsor, SkeCable through its community channel 61 and 62 will be showing the delayed telecast of the Ground and Pound event on September 7. It will also broadcast regular teasers and trailers for the biggest MMA tournament in Cebu, so far.
“This is part of our vision in making MMA big here in Cebu. This is the first time that an MMA tournament in the Visayas will be covered and televised by a station,†said Caniga.
The seventh sequel of the highly-successful Ground and Pound series presents another historic page in Cebu sports as it features the first ever MMA heavyweight championship match in this portion of the archipelago.
Sanctioned by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB), the slambang event will be headlined by Cebu-based British fighter Cris “Lindol†Brooks of Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu, who will lock up horns with Davaoeño Lloyd Abucayan of Mindanao's Beefit Pythons Pit for the vacant Ground and Pound Championship (GPC) heavyweight belt.
Also making his first defense of his GPC lightweight crown is Mindanao’s Lorde Rey ‘Punisher’ Yamit who will go up against Kru Robert “Maldito†Serdone from Redneos Iron Gladiator MMA of Talisay City.
Completing the explosive MMA championship triple-header is undefeated Cebuano warrior James ‘Spider’ Serenio, who will try to capture the vacant GPC flyweight title against former URCC Visayas flyweight champion and PXC veteran Victor “Gladiator†Torre.
Tickets are priced at P200 for the upper box, P400 for the lower box, P750 for the ringside and P1,500 for the VIP seats.
