Lemuel P. Maglinte - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Everything is already in place for the staging of the 'Run with Venus' organized by the alumni of St. Theresa’s College (STC)- High School Batch '89 this Sunday morning at the Terraces grounds of Ayala Center Cebu.

The race, which features the 3K, 6K, 12K and 21K categories, is a fund-raising event for the benefit of STC Alumni Association and Bahay Kalinga, a special education program for underprivileged children.

“We know that local runners will support us in our activity and we are also encouraging our students to participate because that money that we will get will go to our school’s project just like the special children that are our beneficiaries,” said Cayenne Ong of STC-HS '89.

Over 800 runners have already signed up for the race, but the organizers are expecting close to 1,500 entries to take part in their noble endeavor. Several sponsors from the beauty, health and wellness industry are also participating.

After the race, participants can also enjoy free health consultations on anemia, diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, bone density/osteoporosis screening, fitness assessment and sports injury.

Cash prizes and medals await the top 10 finishers in each category. All the 21K finishers will receive a Suarez arts finisher's medal, a dri-fit shirt, towel and freebies from sponsors.

Registration fee is pegged at P350 for the 3K and 6K, P450 for 12K and P750 for 21K. Entry forms are available at Ayala Active Zone, Runnr in Ayala Center Cebu, The Brick multisport store at J Centre Mall and at Repro Optima Center located between Joven’s Grill and Red Cross officer along Osmeña Boulevard.  (FREEMAN)
