CEBU, Philippines - Upcoming Cebuana triathlete Aaliyah Ricci Mataragnon made her first international stint a remarkable one by winning bronze medal in the New Moon Khcycle Metasprint Series Singapore 2013 recently at the Changi Beach Park.

Mataragnon, an incoming Grade 8 student of Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus, made a podium finish out of the 26 entries under the youth 12-13 bracket.

Mataragnon, a member of the Philippine Youth developmental training pool, finished the 250-meter swim, 10km bike and 2.5km run in 41 minutes and 56 seconds, good for a third place finish behind Katie Mullan and Tamiya Baynes.

The 12-year-old Mataragnon came out eighth in the water, but bounced back in the cycling part where she posted the best time among all the participants. (FREEMAN)
