CEBU, Philippines - It will be a cast of two teams from the University of the Visayas (UV), ACES and the CVIRAA High School team in the crossover semifinals of the Under 19 division of the ThreeSixty Pharmacy Cup 2013: CYBL 6 at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Mango Avenue Campus Gym.
In the last series of games of the classification phase, the two UV teams earned the top seed slots on both groups. UV thumped Adgers Sportswear, 86-48, to top Group A, while the UV U16 team outpointed ACES, 56-52, to grab the top spot in Group B and relegating ACES to the second semifinals slot from the group. The CVIRAA High School team grabbed the second seat to the semis in Group A by beating USPF, 69-36.
UV and CVIRAA ended the classification phase with identical 3-1 records but UV earned the top seed ranking via the winner over the other tiebreaker rule. Finishing a respectable third in Group A were USPF (2-2), followed by Adgers (1-3) and USJR (1-3).
UV U16 swept Group B with a 3-0 slate followed by ACES at 2-1, SHS-Ateneo 2 (1-2) and Lucky 40 (0-3). The crossover semifinals pits the UV U16 squad against CVIRAA, while UV goes up against ACES in sudden death games. The finals is also a one game playoff.
The ThreeSixty Pharmacy Cup 2013 is the flagship tournament of Season 6 of the Cebu Youth Basketball League (CYBL). The tournament is composed of 50 teams spread over four age groups: Under 10, 13, 16 and 19. Games in the Under 10, 13 and 16 divisions are now over. (PR)(FREEMAN)
