JV Shop grills Argentina Corned Beef in CECABA

CEBU, Philippines - JV Shop n Shop '97 stormed to a 53-43 victory over Argentina Corned Beef '84/87/90 in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Saturday at the CEC gym.

Audrey Jones Ibones chalked up 18 points, three assists and two rebounds, while Timothie Tan added 13 points and four rebounds for Class '97, which nows holds an improved 5-4 win-loss record.

Class '97 was in control from the start, easily cruising to a 35-20 lead at halftime that sent Class '84/87/90 reeling the rest of the way.

Paul Michael Cabellon had 14 points and five rebounds, while Henrich Chua added 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals but their combined efforts were not enough as Class '84/87/90 suffered its fifth loss in seven games.

On the other hand, Dannel Greg Hayag unloaded 21 points on top of six rebounds, five steals and two assists as Best World Lifestyle 2004 stunned Las Vegas KTV-M16 Disco '94, 59-50, to even its record to 3-3.

Class 2004 actually trailed by four at the break, 23-27, but launched a sizzling offensive in the final half, 37- to baffle Class '94 at the final buzzer.

Joseph Aljhune Areja chipped in 15 points, seven assists and, five steals and two rebounds in all-around performance for Class 2004.

Stanley gaw had 15 points and five rebounds, while Wellington Yu banged in 11 points, 13 rebounds and three assists for Class '94, which fell to 5-5.
