NM Hardware ‘95 goes 2-0; 3R Audio '98 shackles PTT 2005 in CECABA

CEBU, Philippines - New Millenium Hardware '95 showed what teamwork is all about in its 74-55 demolition of Argentina Corned Beef '84/87/90 in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Saturday at the Cebu Coliseum.

All eight players fielded in by Class '95 scored, four of them in double figures led by Donald Anthony Ting with 18 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Dean Dy Teves had a solid double-double show of 17 points and 10 rebounds spiked with two steals for Class '95, which used a searing 20-4 run in the second quarter to rip the game apart.

Raymond Gollon added 12 points and six rebounds, while Joseph James Yu banged in 11 markers on top of six rebounds and two assists for Class '95, which was never threatened after posting a 34-21 lead at the intermission.

Frederick Chua paced Argentina Corned Beef with 14 points and six rebounds. Sammy Sia added 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Jeffery Go banged in a dozen points and dished out two assists in a losing effort.

In the other game, Elvis Evangelista charted season-highs 31 points and 21 rebounds as 3R Audio '98 blasted  PTT 2005, 104-65.

Evangelista, who also issued four assists and had two steals, drew huge support from Rex Millan, Erick Andrew So, Paul Timothy So, and Robinson Yap as they nailed their second straight win after a season-opening 96-64 defeat to the Chester Cokaliong-led Pilipinas Shell '80s.

Millan finished with 27 points on top of four rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Erick Andrew So contributed 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists for Class '98, which clobbered the hapless Class 2005 right after the opening buzzer on the way to mount an imposing 47-24 bulge at halftime.

Paul Timothy So tossed in a tournament-high 19 assists that went along with 16 points and 12 rebounds, even as Yap churned out 10 points, six rebounds and three assists for the 3R Audio-backed squad.

Philip John Lua topscored for Class 2005 with 27 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
