Cops awarded for recent accomplishments

CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office-7 yesterday presented awards and commendations to selected PNP personnel during their traditional Monday flag-raising ceremony.

In a statement released in their Facebook page, PRO-7 said that the PNP Medal of Merit (Medalya ng Kagalingan) was awarded to the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO), for their successful arrest of a high-profile individual during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Canamucan, Compostela Town, Cebu, last September 14.

They confiscated 3.11 kilograms of illegal drugs valued at ?21 million, along with additional evidence.

Another Medal of Merit was awarded to the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company of the CPPO for effectively executing a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, last July 27 in Barangay Guimbawian, Pinamungajan Town, Cebu. This operation resulted in the seizure of a loaded .45 cal. pistol and the arrest of the suspect.

PRO-7 officer-in-charge Police Brigadier General Roy Parena congratulated the award recipients and said that they will further enhance the momentum in achieving the objectives of the PNP. — (FREEMAN)
