Cebu City, Mandaue share practices with other LGUs

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government recently shared its know-how regarding ease of doing business with its counterparts from Mandaue City.

Personnel from the Office of the Building Official (OBO) in Mandaue City recently visited their counterparts in Cebu City’s OBO “to conduct a comprehensive benchmarking exercise”, the city’s PIO reported.

The discussions were focused on enhancing service delivery and adopting the best practices of Cebu City.

Cebu City OBO showcased its online system for processing building permits that has significantly improved efficiency and accessibility for applicants. Its technical team also demonstrated the procedures and operations of its online application system.

Initially introduced in 2019 and fully implemented by 2020, this online system allows clients and applicants to complete their permit applications digitally, reducing processing time and minimizing in-person interactions.

The insights gathered is expected to support Mandaue City's efforts to implement a more efficient online permit processing system, providing faster and more convenient service to its citizens.

Meanwhile, Mandaue City’s Business Permit and Licensing Office also shared their expertise with the San Fernando LGU in Pampanga, particularly for the digitalization of the Business Permit and Licensing Office, led by lawyer Lizer Malate.

Aside from Mandaue’s BPLO, San Fernando department heads also visited other departments and offices of the said city including the public market and the City Legal Office, among others.
