Comelec extends deadline for reactivation of voters

CEBU, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has extended the filing of applications for reactivation of Filipino voters’ registration online and also reminded the rest of the public of the deadline of registration for the upcoming elections.

Instead of September 7, 2024, the Comelec has extended the deadline of online filing of reactivation to the 25th of this month. The en banc decision to grant extension was made due to the significant number of deactivated Filipino voters who are yet to apply for reactivation.

This is to allow more Filipinos to conveniently reactivate their voter registration record without the hassle of physically going to the local Comelec offices.

Those who were deactivated are Filipino voters who failed to vote for two consecutive elections. They can file an application for reactivation online as long as they have complete biometrics in the local Comelec office where they registered.

The different types of application for reactivation which can be availed online includes the application for reactivation, reactivation with transfer of registration within or with correction of entries, reactivation with transfer of registration within and correction of entries, and for senior citizens and persons with disability(PWDs), the application for reactivation with updating of records.

The online filing of reactivation is done through the official email address of the offices of election officer (OEOs) nationwide which is available in the official Comelec website (www.comelec.gov.ph).

Meanwhile, the Comelec also reminded incoming voters that local and overseas registration will end on September 30. One can access the Comelec website for application forms at https://comelec.gov.ph/?r=OverseasVoting/OVFAQs/RegistrationCertificationApplication. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
