P1 million worth marijuana uprooted in Balamban

CEBU, Philippines — A marijuana plantation with at least P1.2 million worth marijuana plants was discovered in Sitio Kapyawan Brgy. Bayong, Balamban, Cebu on Tuesday July 23,2024.

Police in the Municipality of Balamban, led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Julius Garcia, uprooted the marijuana plantation, but were not able to arrest workers or owners of the area.

Lt. Col. Garcia said they received information that someone was cultivating a marijuana plantation in mountain barangay of said town, so they tracked it down and confirmed that the information was positive.

“The problem, very isolated ang area galisod gyud og saka so we need extra effort para maabot gyud namo ang area,” said Lt. Col. Garcia.

No less than 3,000 fully grown marijuanas worth P1.2 million were uprooted and another 2 kilos of dried matijuana plants were seized with an estimated standard price of P40,000.

The police burned the pulled marijuana, while other samples were taken to the crime laboratory as evidence. – /ATO (FREEMAN)
