Danao eyes advanced water treatment facility

CEBU, Philippines — Danao City Mayor Mix Durano is looking at implementing an advanced water treatment facility similar to that in Yokohama City, Japan.

Durano’s vision for the Danao City Government to implement the said system has gotten the support of the Yokohama Partnership of Resources and Technologies (Y-PORT).

The team of Y-PORT visited Danao City on July 17 to discuss the cooperation they will undertake to address the challenges as well as the enhancement of environmental sustainability.

Y-PORT delegation headed by Noriaki Yokouchi, Director of Development Cooperation of the International Affairs Bureau in Yokohama City, expressed support for Durano’s plan and committed to provide the master plan and necessary support the LGU needs to achieve its sustainable development goal.

During the collaborative meeting, the plan for a “robust sewage system” was also discussed for infrastructure enhancement in Danao City.

Y-PORT Project is a private-public partnership-based project for international technical cooperation that utilizes resources and technologies in Yokohama to help address the current urban development issues.
