Danao City farmers, fisherfolks get financial aid from DOLE

CEBU, Philippines — Eight local associations in the city of Danao received financial support from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for its livelihood programs.

Around P3.5 million worth of integrated livelihood projects were distributed to different associations, including for the egg layer production livelihood program of the Danao City PWD Workers Association who received P500,000; IBO Community Workers Association with also P500,000; and Sto. Tomas Small Transport Workers Association with P410,000.

Under the same program, other recipients were the Cogon Cruz Community Workers Association, Katropa Erpat Movement Farmer Workers Cahumayan Association (P500,000) and Langlang Rural Workers Association (P680,000).

For Sacsac Community Workers Association, the group received P400,000 checks for their native chicken production while the Suba Fishermen Association got P310,000 for their pumpboat and fishing gear project.

Danao City Mayor Mix Durano with officials from DOLE handed over the said assistance through cheques to the officers of the respective associations.

The said associations are expected to use the said assistance for their livelihood projects benefiting its members and the community.

According to the Danao City Government, the fishermen and farmers’ association in the city are the first to benefit from the said integrated livelihood project from DOLE.

Further, the LGU vows to continue its sustainable livelihood program in the city on top of the livelihood projects from DOLE 7. -  ATO (CEBU NEWS)
