4th District LGU’s get P33.8 million

CEBU, Philippines —  In the seventh stop of the Caravan of Government Services for this quarter, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia turned over a total amount of ?33.8 million in funds to the local government units of the 4th District of Cebu.

Another batch of checks were released to six LGU’s in the district; the towns of Medellin, San Remigio, Tabuelan, Tabogon, Daanbantayan, and the City of Bogo.

Garcia, along with district Congresswoman Janice Salimbangon, turned over the calamity and infrastructure funds to the LGU’s last Friday in Medellin town.

Medellin Mayor Joven Mondigo Jr. said in his speech that the caravan really helps Cebuanos, especially those in need.

“Ang serbisyo dapat sa gobyerno naa sa atoang mga kaigsuonan but labaw sa tanan, dapat ang serbisyo adto sa labing nanginahanglan nga mao’y ato g’yud nga gitagaan ug angay’ng tagaan og special na atensiyon,” he said.

In a post by Sugbo News, the official Facebook page of the provincial government, it said that the checks worth ?5 million each were received by Mondigo, San Remigio Mayor Alfonso Pestolante, Tabuelan Mayor Raul Gerona, and Tabogon Mayor Francis Salimbangon.

Daanbantayan Vice Mayor Ali Abucay and Bogo City Administrator Antonieto Suico received the ?5 million checks on behalf of their mayors.

Of the amount, ?3 million is intended as calamity fund, while the remaining ?2 million is for infrastructure projects of the LGUs. The calamity fund was released pursuant to the declaration of state of calamity in Cebu Province.

Additionally, 19 barangays from the district received ?200,000 each from the Capitol to support their various infrastructure programs.

Last Thursday, the Capitol also released ?16.8M financial assistance to Bantayan, Santa Fe, and Madridejos.
